Robo's Rado 0 Posted February 24, 2005 Anyone had any experiance of one of these, i have been thinking of a remap from Dubsport for around £350, they reckon it gives 20bhp. Anyone had it done or any other type of chip ? ?
coullstar 0 Posted February 24, 2005 A few have tried them on here with varying sucess. There is a guy on clubgti forum who has tried an MRC (specialist Audi tuner) chip and found it to be quite good. I contacted the guy about prices etc but he only came back with power figures etc. If you speak to them then let me know prices, fitting etc.
corradophil 3 Posted February 24, 2005 I looked into it, AMD reckoned about 15 bhp increase, but after speaking to several tuners, stealth included, I decided against it. The general opinion seemed to be, unless the mixture wrong or it has an ignition timing problem, then you can't do much. If it is fueling wrong or the ignition is timing is wrong, that suggests a fault rather than it requiring a re-map. Forced induction cars are the ones which you can get substantial gains by re-mapping.
sambo 0 Posted February 24, 2005 I have a freshly rebuilt/tuned 2.0l 9a on my garage floor whith 3k miles on it. It has balanced bottom end, p/p head with 264 cams. If i was to put this engine in my "94 rado 16v, and increase fuel flow on meetering head, will i benefit from a remap than? What power should i expect to get out of it? corradophil 3 Posted February 25, 2005 I'd imagine you would at least match my power. I played around with an adjustment on the metering head, but it made no improvement, so it is back to where it was originaly now. Maybe it was at its optimum setting already. Remap is a bit of a lottery, when I looked into it, there appeared to be little scope for gains re-mapping Ke-Motronic. I would be interested in comments from anyone who has done this though. Robo's Rado 0 Posted February 25, 2005 This all sounds a bit disapointing ! Thought it sounded a bit too easy ....
chris CORRADO 0 Posted February 25, 2005 when i had mine chipped i noticed a diffrence.. BUT this was because i had the cams, manifold, and throttlebody fitted... hummm but i think it was worth it... coz it reved smoother
