Vr6 Thermo into a G60

Recommended Posts

Correct me if I am wrong, but I thought the G60 already had a lower temp thermo ?

When I had a heating problem, i was told to change mine to a G60 !

I was told that it would fit but never got round to doing it as the thermo wasn't the cause of my overheating !

But they are fairly cheap so i guess you could give it a try !!

To get a G60 temp down you change the thermo to a 180 degree one and a low temp fan switch.

The low temp fan switich has a green connector

The Corrado has a 2 speed electric fan: speed 1 comes on at 93'C and goes off at 82'C (93-82'C) and speed 2 comes on at 104'C and goes off at 90'C (104-90'C).

You could try one of the following from the VW transporter:

Dual thermo switches (3pin) 251 959 481K 87-76'C/93-82'C

or 701 959 481 87-76'C/93-82'C (same part on later transporters)

or 701 959 481C 81-70'C/87-76'C (for max cooling)

Before you go buying the VR6 stats for your G60's i think you will find it is a different design and will not fit. The VR6 stat has a o.d. of 67mm while the G60's is 54mm. Here i am again with the old dilemer do i let on where to source cooler stats, and divulge more hard earnt knowledge?! Who you gonna call!!!
