The best looking ride height?

Now that the good weather is starting to come around, I've decided to finally fit my BBS RC's I purchaced from Jay a while ago. Luckily I already fitted konigsport coilovers in preparation for this.. and now its just a matter of working out the best looking ride height.

 

The picture attached is how the car looks at the moment.. I've lowered it as far as it can go at the back.. and then done the front just till it looked right. However I think the back might be too low... opinions? I like low ride heights, but the way the rear wheel gets pushed forward the more you lower it I think looks wrong... I wanna get it looking just right before I get the tracking etc done.

Not saying it's perfect, but I like the ride height of mine, which you can see from the avatar.

 

Equal distance all the way round the wheel arch/tyre and it doesn't rub unless heavily laden and on a bumpy road.

Hhhm I would go with VR6's suggestion too, equal distance between wheel arch and tyre all the way round would look the best. Looking good though, liking the RC's!

So there is no gap between the tyre and arch.

Just bring the back up about 1/2 inch.....or even the front down 1/2inch! 8)

hmm i've done something similar with mine and i cant decide whether it looks low or saggy :-(

Well going into uni today I bottomed out in the middle... so I definitely can't go any lower at the front. So yeah I think I'll raise it about 10mm at the back so the gap is the same as the front 8)

 

When I've got some more money I'll get the rust sorted on the rear arch and at the same time get the arches rolled - then I can space the wheels out a bit more, and possibly drop it down again :)

 

Red=Fast, looks sweet, but a bit difficult to actually see how low it is because you have black wheels.

 

Also while I'm here, since lowering the car more, my cars started creaking and clunking a lot... is this normal? can I do anything about it?

Yeah I have been thinking about this too? Anybody? Think you might need to upgrade some other parts of the suspension to strengthen body - uprated antiroll bars and maybe even strut braces?

I already have eibach ARB's and a front strut brace installed :( maybe a rear strut brace would help...? it sounds like most of the knocks etc. are coming from the back, so maybe...

bump stops maybe ? maybe the bump stops need to be renewed or shortened, due to the reduced travel you get when its lowered

Yeah mine does this too, I have been blaming it on the konigsports but if it's not I would be very happy to find out what it is as I've just had the ball joints replaced on the front droplink/anti-roll bar

ps . my bro just dropped his escort cossie 30mm and tweeks advised him not to go any lower because the drive shafts have been known to pop out :-(

the knocking on the back it probably the exhaust where it goes over the beam.

 

dont rasie the back just lower the front;-)

I raised the back 10mm and it looks better now.. can barely tell the difference in the picture, but it looks more even now :)

the creaking could be your rear axle bushes??????? did you loosen the bolts when you lowered it?

 

if you didn't then the rubber can shear and then they are fooked! or if you did then you haven't tightened the bolts up properly! the latter happened when i dropped my old mk2, took me ages to work out what it was!!!

 

BTW think the ride height on mine looks cool :)

rear axle bushes ey? I'll have a look at that, I didn't loosen any bolts, so I may be buying some new ones of them :?
