VR6 Wont Start!

Recommended Posts

Ive bought a Late VR6 in a rolling shell but the Immobiliser box is missing

I have tried using my immobiliser out of my 16v and swapped the transponder around in the keys but this isnt working I have used VAG-COM to Diagnose it and it comes up with immobiliser unauthorised intermittent then a code.

Does anyone have much experience with the factory Immobiliser who can help

That'll be why it's not starting.

You might need a new transponder coil in the column but you say the immobiliser is missing? It shouldn't be as CP ECUs have the immobiliser hard coded into the ECU circuits. I don't think there is a seperate immobiliser box as such. Not too sure I'm afraid as I don't have a CP ECU. For info, AG ECUs (up to 94) are non immobilised, CP (95 on) are.

Try a local auto electrician, they may be able to help.

Thanks! Yes its a CP ECU But fixed underneath the dash is a little box by the Spoiler control unit that the immobiliser coil plugs into and another plug that goes to the back of the fusebox

Ah OK, sounds like you need that box then, which must be a relay or two that shuts down the starter and ignition (spark) circuits.

Sorry, I don't know any more than that.

I bought the License for VAG-COM and that Adapts the ECU to the Immobiliser Im only getting one fault now and thats the Engine speed sensor but that might be cos its not starting. I think I have a long way to go.
