tug 0 Posted April 13, 2005 I don't notice it really, but my friend mentioned it when he was following me the other day. Could this be down to the valve stem oil seals? tug 0 Posted April 13, 2005 Uses a little oil, but nothing excessive. I only ever notice smoke if the engine's been on overrun shortly before. I'm waiting on parts arriving from the States for an engine rebuild, but was hoping I wouldn't have to go down the whole rebore & new pistons route... Kevin Bacon 5 Posted April 13, 2005 Shine a torch into bores 1 and 6 and see if the piston crowns are oily (need to be at TDC) and also see if plugs 1 and 6 are oily. Smoking on overrun is usually a sign of guide wear, but can also be tired bores on the VR....and I know because I get the occasional puff after extended periods of downhill overrun, but my head was rebuilt last year.
