mariovr6 0 Posted May 13, 2005 ok dont know much about superchargers for the vr6 whats a v2 vortech charger like compaired to the v9?? is one more powerful?? do they all fit the same n come from the same company?
corradovr6sc 0 Posted May 13, 2005 Vortech chargers are all quite similar. The V2 (or V1) has a larger impeller, doesn't spin as fast as the v9 but shifts more air (good for big hp). The V9 is a more compact charger with a smaller impeller so needs to spin faster than the V2 to produce the same boost. They both have helical cut gears so are fairly quiet in operation. The V9 uses different mounting brackets to the V2/V1 on a vr6.
RS VR6 0 Posted May 14, 2005 The V1/V2 also pushes more volume than the V9. The V1 kitted cars seem to make more power.
Chris VR6nos 0 Posted May 16, 2005 It's all gravy! Either charger can provide more psi than the VR can use so it's no problem which you choose though the V9 is neater and dinkier so takes up less space and makes fitting and working around a little easier, a plus point is that the V9 uses less power from the engine to drive it, there's not a huge difference between the two types but the V9 is the more recent evolution for the VR for the reason of lower power consumption i'm told by VF-engineering & NS-Racing. I run 6psi with the std pulley and the V1/V2 runs nearer 6.5-7psi with the same diameter pulley but smaller pullies are readilly available to go up to 20psi or more but who needs that on a VR? You may get a cheap used V1/V2 on the Vortex classifieds and even the bracketry to suit! Chris

H8RRA 0 Posted May 24, 2005 i'm considering getting one from http://www.c2motorsports.net/supercharger_kits.asp Could try and get a group buy or discount for 2 at the very least
H8RRA 0 Posted May 24, 2005 i editted the info on the site, chris, to make it more compact and easier to read - if you prefer the site, fair enough - i prefer the editted file which is handy and save-able / edittable etc on my hard drive.

Kevin Bacon 5 Posted May 24, 2005 How do we get round the metal MAF housing issue Chris/H8RRA if using the C2 kit? And their American spec ECU code may not be suitable for UK engines.
Joe M 0 Posted May 24, 2005 See if they will sell the kit without a chip and maf housing for cheaper, use the standard housing and get Vince to map it?
Chris VR6nos 0 Posted May 24, 2005 That group buy is a shambles, i thought there was to be a good discount for buying a number of kits at once, i was quoted less than that by them for 1 kit it's rediculous! The maf you have is useable and they are/have developed a UK spec map by all accounts thou the main thing that i don't like about the C2 programme is that they essentially use the standard map but with a higher flow injector to deliver the extra fuelling and let the std map work out the fine adjustements, not ideal in my eyes and a custom map is the only way to go as in reallity every engine has different requirements anyway. Kevin Bacon 5 Posted May 24, 2005 Yeah the discount is nothing remarkable but we were spoiled with the Schrick Group buy, so won't find discounts like that again in a hurry! 10+ orders dropped the price to £1050 inc VAT from the usual RRP of £1500+VAT. Amusingly, the 15+ price saw a further £2 reduction, LOL! Anyway, I'm game if they can offer us a decent price. Then a GB on Peloquins/Quaife ATB diffs will be in order! corradovr6sc 0 Posted May 24, 2005 An alternative would be to buy a second hand AMS or Eurotech Racing kit which are essentially the same as the C2 kit (same charger and brackets but have silicone pipework instead of metal) for about $2000. Then you can buy any extras from C2.
H8RRA 0 Posted May 24, 2005 where are all these second hand kits people are referring to??
Chris VR6nos 0 Posted May 24, 2005 By Eurotech are you meaning Reuben and Vinesh? If so then things have gone a little Pete Tong! They've split and both trying to make a go individually, but it was nice of Vinesh (or Vanish as i call him) to buy the drinks in Austria! :D Chris
KADVR6 0 Posted May 24, 2005 if there is a group buy on these chargers can i go right to the top of the list??? i NEED more power?? :D :D and im tight so dont want to spend £2800 that ns racing quoted me about 8 months ago.

Chris VR6nos 0 Posted May 24, 2005 I just don't know if you deserve all that extra power yet! What do you think? What more's to come? Chris
KADVR6 0 Posted May 24, 2005 you sound like my missus, why do you need to go faster??? but i did have a 320bhp m5 3 years ago. so i can handle the power. but thanks for worrying but you dont have to...
