definition of the word seitenschweller?

From my german school dictionary that I happened to spot on the shelf...

 

Seite = side or flank

Schwelle = doorstep, or swelling

 

Side-skirts would be my guess.... :?: 8)

Help all those years of advanced maths and i said "where am i going to use this in later life" DOH hope that dont happen with my maths!!
