a_grl_n_her_rado 0 Posted June 23, 2005 Did the Euro corrados come with an alternate HVAC / Air Conditioning control set up for those who did not want air conditioning? I'm planning to ditch my AC and just keep the heat controls, however I'd like to do something a little more discrete with the heater controls rather than having a big panel with 2 extra useless dials. Thanks for any help
dinkus 10 Posted June 23, 2005 Most of the European Corrados don't have air conditioning at all. The ones that do had it as a dealer-fit option so it's just a Norm and Max button somewhere (either by the cigarette lighter or in the dash). So all Euro heater control panels don't have the * logo on them anywhere. The question is, why on earth would you get rid of AC?!?!?
gibber 0 Posted June 23, 2005 Its not just the controls that are different, I used to have a us spec corrado, and the controls work via a vacume air opperated system, where as the brit or none aircone cars have cables. Hope that helps, I can tell you more if you want?
dinkus 10 Posted June 23, 2005 But can you just change the actual dials on the front, or even just the film inserts to make them look different?
a_grl_n_her_rado 0 Posted June 23, 2005 Well, the reason that I want to change the AC control panel is to make it more stealthy and out of the way, letting me use the previous space for guages or what have you. I only need a very primative control system, Heat on, heat off...blowing onto the windshield only. I was hoping that you Europeans had a single dial control or something completely different than the US models. Ok, scratch that! Plan B! My idea is to fully remove AC and panel, install a single switch (kill style!) whose sole function is "on/off". Heat on, Heat off. Speed doesn't matter, vents will be blocked off so it will only blow on windshield... No where is the quantum physics engineer who is going to rig this up for me!? :norty: The reason I'm ditching the AC is 1) weight savings off the nose, 2) I am getting a shiney new car with nice AC, 3) I never used it when I had it...I'm a "roll-the-window-down" kind of girl. However, it's alot easier to drive when you are hot, then to drive when you're fingers are numb and cold! So I do need a form of heat when I need it. Thanks for the help fellas! gibber 0 Posted June 23, 2005 I would simple relocate the heater controls to the glovebox. Then you could still rip out the air con, you will have to open up the heater box behind the dash to pull out the other rad, aswell as all the bits under the bonnet
dinkus 10 Posted June 23, 2005 The US only got the G60 which had early interior and the VR (SLC) of which some had early and some had late interior. As she's talking about dials, one would presume that it's the late interior ;) And us Europeans got the same heater controls, but they had a different set of diagram films in.
