dig776 0 Posted June 28, 2005 OK so I have just posted in another thread that my rado is going flippin great on tesco 99 ron and it is.............. The only thing I have noticed is that the fan seems to stay on after I turn the ignition off and the car seems to generally be running a bit hotter than normal. The fan is new, the coolant is level so it could just be that the recent hotter (for this country!) weather is affecting things OR it could be somthing a little more potentially expensive? Any ideas? Supercharged 2 Posted June 28, 2005 Sounds fine, considering the hotter weather and the fact that the car may be a bit quicker on the higher octane fuel... What are the temps on the gauge getting to - water and oil?
dig776 0 Posted June 28, 2005 On a long run the water temp is a bit above the first mark but the other day when I came off the A38 into Plymouth and drove along at about 40mph in 5th it got up to about the 3/4 mark. The fan generally seems to come on a lot more often and for a lot longer. The oil temp is about 60 on a long run which is a bit more than it has been. Hope its the weather but thought it could be the water pump on the way out ?No funny noises. Is there any way of checking the pump?

gradeAfailure 0 Posted June 28, 2005 Usual temps for a valver seem to be around the 90deg mark for the coolant and 100-110deg for the oil - anything way off that and I'd start questioning why if I were you!
Supercharged 2 Posted June 29, 2005 Oil temp 60!!! - the engine is only starting to get warm at 80, that can't be right, may be a duff sender...
dig776 0 Posted June 29, 2005 I thought it was low from seeing other posts on here. Thing is for the last 12 months whilst it has been low it has been consistant. same with the water temp and the change has only just started. I am probably being over cautious but after my mk2 golf gti needed a new head gasket £350 for the sake of a £40 fan I am trying to be proactive. Will take it to my local friendly garage to sus it out. Thanks to all for postings
