Feels like it's missing above 5500rpm...sometimes!

Recommended Posts

Right, I've just changed the cylinder head on my 16v, and now every so often, under hard acceleration, it feel like it loses a bit of power above 5500rpm! Could it be drawing air in after the metering head? Injector seals? (they did look a bit suspect)

Otherwise it goes a lot better...until I had the cat put back on for MOT today...which its going to fail (god damn pesky rear calipers!)

are the plugs nice and tight (silly question i know  )

i hate intermittent problems like this, like you say it could be anything from an air leak to the coil breaking down at high rpm? :?

Probably not the same, but I was getting a high rpm misfire on my VR and it turned out to be a knackered plug. ;)

They are almost new plugs, only done about 1000miles, they wouldn't be knackered would they?

you can get dodgy plugs sometimes :(

if you have the old ones maybe try them again as a free test?

Yup, new cap and rotor arm, but not bosch items

Should I go for bosch bits or doesn't it matter?

shouldnt really matter but best to use genuine where possible.

im just thinking of things that have changed with the head, have you reused your old dizzy? etc?

id start by checking the plugs if you can :)

I've checked the plugs, they seem fine...

I wish I hadn't touched the bloody engine to be honest, it doesn't pull right. Don't really know what is going on. The top end is rattley and it just sounds poo.

Anyone want to buy a Corrado 2.0l 16v? :( :( :(

is it definately a misfire m8?

or more a loss of power above that rpm?

did you change the cams over? or swap a full head/cams etc?

dunno what to suggest really?

maybe a compression test could show something up?

neil. :(

Not sure if it is a misfire really, it seems to loose a bit of power, but not all the time!

Can't really see what the problem is! :(

could be fueling...

One of the guys at work suggested that too.

I've booked it into Stealth Racing on the 1st of August.

Thought I'd get someone to look at it who knows what they're doing, unlike me!!
