Cam Cover Gasket on Vr6

Tried using the search, but cant find any info :mad:

Anyway mine looks like it needs doing so how much are they? take it there not too bad?

But main thing is how hard? :? Its on a L reg Vr6

They are about £10 from VAG, not too difficult to change but you obviously need to remove the inlet manifold(s) and you'll need some spline keys/sockets to remove the cable management guides...

 

Use a slight amount of oil on the gasket when you swap them over and make sure it's seated correctly (it doesn't help the fact that they come all twisted up in a bag!)

 

Do up the bolts loosly from the outside towards the midle from opposite sides (hope that makes sense) and I think the torque setting is 11Nm (can someone confirm this?)

Almost, but I'd refine the advice by suggesting you fit the gasket dry and torque them to 11 lb/ft. 11nm is just about finger tight!
