woody 0 Posted August 15, 2005 this happened to me, the sender in the coolant bottle was knackered. On a G60 the you needed to buy the collant bottle as there was no way to just change he sender. Did that and all was lovely
Supercharged 2 Posted August 15, 2005 Check yer wiring if not, new bottle and cap as already mentioned.
Musicman 0 Posted August 15, 2005 Dumb (and slightly weird) suggestion: check your oil level. I'm not sure how applicable it will be to a 16v, but it certainly seemed to stop the flashing temp/water light on my 8v DX engine when I found it was at the low end of low... [worth doing regularly anyway]
PoorMansPorsche 0 Posted August 15, 2005 what a plonker !!! Noticed that what i thought was plenty of water was actually an old scum line !!! put some water in and its now fine Doh ! Still never mind probably best if i buy a new bottle anyway as mine is completely mank cheers anyways
Supercharged 2 Posted August 15, 2005 LOL - the light did it's job then!! You shouldn't 'use' water by the way, look for signs of a leak and check it reguarly...
PoorMansPorsche 0 Posted August 15, 2005 well ive only had it for month and only done 200 miles in it so im not sure as yet if it uses water, gotta get the bottle cleaned up first though
Carl 0 Posted August 15, 2005 //advise unless u got it cheap and are a diyer or got usefull m8s, get rid it could be trouble! coolant loss=not good your engine should not use coolant? check for visible leaks with engine running, check for white residue around flages/hoses gl m8y /me flips in a 2p
PoorMansPorsche 0 Posted August 15, 2005 i dont think there is any leaks definately not anything major and it is only really my weekend toy its not really a big deal if i have to top up every now and again but i will get it looked at though if i have to top up again in the near future by the way it was pretty cheap

I had this done recently, and it was my thermostat housing that was leaking. Changed it for about £80+vat & labour, job was a gooden.
