What does a boost valve actually do?

If by this you mean an FSE powerboost valve then they are just a fuel pressure regulator with a fancy name. No point really.

Not much use on a G60 as you need to have a fixed pressure (I know the pressure changes due to the vac hose, but that is a known quantity) to compliment the chip. Altering the fuel pressure will affect the mixture, unless the ECU were to be re-mapped to suit.

OK, they are better on an NA motor assuming that you know it runs weak at the top end and when accelerating.

Pay the extra for super unleaded would probably produce the same increase in performance.
