Lippy 0 Posted November 7, 2005 Hi Picked the missus up from the train station yesterday evening, all was well until my accelerator pedal dropped to the floor whilst I was going up a hill. The pedal has detached from the cable before, so I whizzed the lower dash off to fix the two back together. This lasted 100 yards, when the same thing happened again...b*stard :evil: As it turns out the metal hook piece the comes into through the bulkhead and clips onto the go pedal had snapped off. MY question being, what the hell can I do to fix it. The accel cable seems fine so can you go to the stealers and get a replacement hook fitment?? Any help appreciated, I as hoping to get my exhaust fitted today but I cant go anywhere! Lippy P.S - if you wondering how I got home, speak wire tied to the accel cable out of the engine bay into the drivers window - who needs a right foot! Jim 2 Posted November 7, 2005 Just buy a whole new accell cable mate.. a new one isn't madly expensive mate and its a 25 min job to fit. Henny 0 Posted November 7, 2005 you need a new cable mate... the hook on the end is bonded on and if it's come off the cable's fooked... Also make sure you buy a new rubber grommet for the pedal. It's the rubber bit that the hook goes through which is attached to the pedals pivot... if it's worn (which it will be) then the hook will keep on popping out of the pivot leaving you with no accelerator pedal again... ;) Quote Share this post Link to post Share on other sites

Rob Heath 0 Posted November 8, 2005 A similar thing happened when me and my mate went to pick some people up from manchester airport in his Astra Ive never laughed so much in my life, coz when i left I lifted the bonnet up, the bonnet lifter came off in my hand Soppose you had to be there :?
