Please help on g60 swap into golf mk3

Recommended Posts

Please tell everything you know about such conversion. What are the biggest problems? which parts fit from corrado? i am thinking about inserting g60 engine, with g60 gearbox, semiaxels etc.(everything what corrado have under the hood including suspension). Thank you very much for sharing your knowledge.

G60 into a mk3?

May as well lob it in barge!

Sorry, I can't help with the conversion but I'm just trying to work out why you're doing it. Surely the engine is best left in the Corrado? (Unless it's already been removed :))

Stakis what do you want to know? my mk4 cabrio has a mk3 chassis so yes it does fit coz I done it, but it is as tight as you like!

The basics, you will need your golf drive shafts, you will need to convert your car to hydraulic clutch, the cable shifter sort of bolts up but you need to make a small bracket to hold it at the front, erm think you have to swap the rear engine mounts, you will need to change your rad as the out let is blocked by the charger, the corrado exhaust fits aswell but the tail pipe will be a bit off. youwill need to fit a front mount intercooler, but a merc sprinter one fits nicely!

ask me some stuff

Thank you very much for the beginning, i know I will have a lot of problems fitting this motor into golf mk3.

we though to leave orioginal golf gearbox, you left original? or placed a corrado gearbox? It would be better to fit corrado, but the gearshift system is different.

What about changing the clutch to hydraulic one? how it can be done? (i have all the corrado front and all the parts that are under the hood).

I think I will not have to change the radiator, because I am fitting a g60 engine with turbo conversion, and no g60 charger is left, so there is more free space in the front.

Please say some other hints, or problems you had with this conversion.

Thank you very much ;) I believe that soon I will have turbocharged golf mk3.

The standard 1.8 gearbox will not take the power, I rang stealth who told me that is it possable, but it will not handle 200 bhp.

I used the corrado box, and fitted the gearshift system from the corrado.

The clutch pedal is the hard part and needs some carefull measuring.

heh, today is the lucky day, in the evening we will make a motor swap..;) we will try just to mount the motor, and all the job will be to wire everything correctly. If I will find more difficulties, I will ask you. Please give me your e-mail gibber? And thank you very much one more time.

gibber > Your golf is cabrio, which means that it is minimum 100kg heavyer than all the other golfs..;)
