Door Handle (16v 2.0l 93)

Any one got any idea what the wire does that comes from the outer door handle. Iassume it has something to do with the allarm but as i am about to replace the handle i would like to know exaclt what purpose it serves.

There is a switch in the lock to work the central locking.

Yeah , and total closure aswell I think.
