cone filter induction kit on k-jet 16v

Recommended Posts

fitted a pipercross viper cone filter to my 1.8 16v today! started by using a smaller 8v golf airbox and putting a ramp in it using a piece of sheet metal. Then drilled hole inside of box and glued in a 90 degree drainpipe tube.Next i cut the seal off an old paper airfilter and used it to re-seal the airbox to meterhead. Then punched out the cc hole and used another angle of drainpipe to go down through the hole onto my airfilter.

I fired the car up and it sounds really nice and you can feel the suction on the end of the filter.

Next up,will be the ram-air,air duct using a corner collector drainpipe thingy joined on the bottom of filter

What do ya think/

don't go driving through any deep water!

Dont think it needs to be very deep as the cars so low

Im hoping the engine wouldnt be able to suck water up at that angle

dont mean to be rude but thats a really bad idea especially when your car slam

I nearly put my airfilter there when i was build my 16vg60 and happy I didnt as I had to go through a ford couple months later which I had no choice but to go through and didnt have a prob.

I then got told by someone that lives near a ford that some guy with calibra 16v smashed up his engine going through a ford as it sucked up the water and pistons cant compress water :( so something had to go bang

I would have gone for something like this

just a piece of advise as rememeber anything that covers that hole will be sucked in

As others have said.....stay away from deep water.

The engine will suck in water if the filter gets wet.

Early Renault Espace had the air in let in the same position and boy did Renault end up paying the price for that mistake.

ok cool I was only offering piece of advise good luck with that

I totally understand wot ya saying,im just trying to think of a way of stoppin water goin up into the filter without moving the scoop.

Might try and cut down scoop and fit it in place of foglight?
