jimborae 0 Posted August 18, 2003 I did something very stoopid (not) today & bought this little cute thing. My 2L 16v is nearly dead awaiting resurection and I was gonna try & find a decent Golf VR6 but the I saw the G60 and thought what the hell.
Jim 2 Posted August 18, 2003 Nice impulse buy! Looks very very nice indeed... engine is clean looking, and those alloys look pukka :) What kinda mileage / mods / info you got on it for us then? :)
jimborae 0 Posted August 18, 2003 Ok last 2 previous owners were ccgb members, its totally standard apart from the rims, g-max lowering springs & dampers and a rebuilt stage 4 charger by Jabba Sport & Green induction kit. All bushes, belts and ancillaries have been replaced recently with bills to prove. Mileage is 112,000, handling and ride wise it feels very tight & good and smooth power delivery is awesome compared to my 16v. Only problems are a very loose gearchange and what seem like warped front discs (suggestions please). I'll be swapping out the interior from my 16v as its in better nic and the colour is the same (grey). Dont think I'll be doing any other mods apart from putting my eibachs & Koni dampers on a some point in the near future when I've decided which is best. Jim 2 Posted August 18, 2003 Hm.. well if the front discs are warped, probably best to get down to a local motor factors and pick up a nice set of OE style ones - won't really cost a great deal (probably about £70 or so quid). As for the gear change.. might possibly be worth replacing gearbox oil, or possibly getting the gear linkage cables checked as they could have gotten slack. Again, neither of those should break the bank if you take it to a garage, or if you are a bit more hands on (as it sounds like you are) you could do it youself :) Sounds great though.. definately thinking more about getting a G60 when I come to buy. More power than a valver, with similar / identical insurance group is good with me! :)
jimborae 0 Posted August 18, 2003 Also came with all bills since new, full dealer history till 77,000 then local VW specialists including AmD. Over £ 10K in bills & receipts the gearbox has been Slick 50 treated so it's definitely slack cables in the gearchange. She seams pretty mint to me for the money I paid. Jim 2 Posted August 18, 2003 Don't say what you paid.. as it'll just make me even more frustrated that I haven't managed to sell mine and get Corrado hunting yet! :)

biggrim 0 Posted August 18, 2003 About the discs. Take them off and clean the mounting surface at the hub. Sometimes debris on the surface can cause the disc to sit slightly unevenly and feel warped. Just before you splash the cash check it out.
