erratic

Recommended Posts

Hi, wonder if anyone can help. I own a 1992 g60 and recently the engine revs have become erratic on idle. They drop until it nearly stalls then kicks back in. Under power it starts to chug( the sort of feeling as you are running out of petrol ). Above about 2500 revs the problem seems to dissappear. A mechanic friend has changed the plug leads, rotary arm and dis cap but the problem remains, he has also hooked it up to a electronic diagnostic box but there were no faults found. It has been serviced. Any ideas anyone

Welcome to the forum...

You need to check things like the ISV, throttle switches.. Blue temp sender and the 1m Vac hose that goes to the ECU

Also look for boost/vac leaks...

Whereabouts are you as as specialist like G-werks could probably trace the problem quite quickly...

Out of interest is this only when it is cold? Mine has started to do exactly the same thing and it is over fuelling but as soon as engine is up to temperature its fine.

Im thinking some sender or fuel control over compensating when its cold

My first valver started doing this. Turned out to be a split ISV pipe. Have a good look at all the pipe work.

Hmm, I have this and hoped that a good service at G-werks would sort it.... but no luck.

I thought it might have been my damaged knock sensor so was waiting to get it replaced in January. I'll have to check the ISV pipes tomorrow then.... Along with alot of other things ;)
