Fan blower

Recommended Posts

The interior fan on my VR has decided to start playing up. I can only get any air on the last setting (4th I think) and when I do it makes a nasty loud sound from the passenger side of the car. Is something buggered? It has been fine up until yesturday.

sounds like the bearing or even possibly something stuckin the fan blades, plus the resistor

If it's got the later heater controls, check that the contacts in the fan speed switch are making proper contact - I thought my resistor had blown but it's actually the switch...

gradeAfailure, - dave means pull the knob off the fan speed control and check the copper strip behind it isn't too dirty making a poor contact

this and the sunroof are the most common problems with the c (lots to choose from :-) ) , take a week off work and search heater

Well I ve taken the fan apart cleaned and lubed it up which cured the noise. Took the dial apart cleaned the copper conector up etc but that hasnt cured it so must be the resistor which looks like its already been change previously.

Thermal fuses do not have a great life span .......the older your motor gets the shorter the life span of the thermal resisitor will get.

Changed mine a few weeks back and found someone had just soldered a link across the terminals rather than changing the fuse.
