Ive just sold my second G60 as I just need to move on wanted something less expensive to run nice to drive and a bit bigger,

so racked my brains for ages on what car as obviously wanted the reliabilty of the VW's(of old) good mpg and enough space in the boot for most eventualities, so i did eventually decided on a few BMW's was going to be either the 323i or the 318is but had to be e36 shape as IMO its the by far the best looking 3-series.

then it was down to running costs and insurance as I have 6 points, I now have 5 years no claims so my insurance isn't too bad but the 318is was so much cheaper to insure it wasn't worth not going for so started looking on pistonheads etc and a week later found a very nice montreal blue 318is coupe with factory m-tech kit in cheshire unfortunately i live in bath but i went to scotland to get the last corrado so this wasnt a very big put off.

So the bit you've all been waiting for,.........

108k mainly FSH a few stamps from other garages

1/2 leather interior

Recent clutch and 2 new tyres

Factory Fitted LSD(not sure how rare this is on a 318is)

Full bmw toolkit in boot

torch in glove box

bodywork in very good nick other than a scuff on the front lower bumper

Problems found so far:

alarm broken whole unit (found this out when tried to get a new fob from bmw) so got stung £80 by bmw

but now have fitted a clifford avant guard so my insurance is valid as i had to do this cnt afford anything else this month

few bits of bodywork to do....

sligt shudder under breaking and a very slight hesitancy at 2500rpm

Then want some CSL replicas and rear lights without the clear indicator need to replace the rear window seals.

so what do you all think????

i havent given her a proper wash with the megs so the other 2 pics from pistonheads

Cheers Andy

Got the VR from a Audi/VW specialist in chippenham they took it in as a part exchange;

its got 102,000 miles, Black Highline; No rust; fsh; black leather heated seats work; all electrics work

the only issue is the rear off side window regulator doesnt work properly sorry for the crap pics there all I have untill i wash and wax,

Good to be back

Welcome back Andy...Highline looks tidy.

Always thought a standard Mk3 Golf VR looks great when in good condition on

solitudes.

I had a black 5 door highline many years ago and absolutely loved it. I preferered it to my current 4Mo.

Hi Gents and Ladies,

It's been a while, I just had a look through my gallery and it brought back some very good memories and it's made me realise how my priorities have changed. Through all of that though since I brought my forst golf 11 years ago, I've never quite been able to to get rid of a fast VW and over the years I have always gone back or kept one. I crashed my lupo on Monday and its a write off, so I rolled the VR out of the garage, took her to my local garage and she passed the MOT yesterday and after a service £600 later and she's back, took her for a nice drive last night and felt 10 again. I filled up with 97 ron fuel and opened the taps up to blow out the cobwebs.

Cant believe how boring in comparison the Lupo was and looking back how monotinous it was to drive, the sound of the VR instantly brings a smile to my face in the morning.

So over the coming months, will be getting the car back up to a presentable standard.... starting with the hesitation im getting under light acceleration between 1000-15000rpm, which im hoping is just the MAF.

Cheers Andy

Cheers Mic, how are you? I was intrigued as to who would still be lurking after such a long absence, have you a gallery would be good to see what your latest Rado looks like?

I'm good mate, been a bit more active recently but sold my car about 2 years ago to Billcor as I got a motorbike.... but now I'm back and after a brief stint in a Corrado R32 I've now actually got my old car back!

Same as you, can't believe how good the VR feels to drive... I can certainly see why people love them so much.

You got many plans? Always used to be inspired by the stuff you were doing, some of the attention to detail etc. was epic.

There he is!

good to see you're still going with the VR.. I don;t know if you know but the G60 is long gone - was rotted out so Rob broke it in the end. Great shame.

You still Bath way or made it back home?

Mic, will have a look at your thread tonight, interested to have a read of the 24v.

Thanks, I spent ahuge amount on the white G60, I nearly brought it back a few years ago on pistonheads, havent seen anything of it since then, the VR needs some paint to both bumpers and the lower drivers side door, then the central locking is playing up a bit, once I've sorted the niggles, I think I will probably, get some coilovers and drop it 40mm on the standard wheels.

You have any plans going forward?
