easygeezer 0 Posted January 14, 2006 Hi, the drivers side door and ignition were on different keys so I took the barrel of drivers door inserted ignition key and cut off the bits that stuck out, I now have a problem in that central door locking does not work anymore, it must be something that I have put together wrong in the handle, what works it from the handle, I can see where the wires go in but there are no moving parts going to this area ? I,m guessing I have lost something, just to confirm if I jump the wires in the door panel it all works ok so it is definitely a handle problem.. Ps if I don't get it sorted Mrs is gonna kill me :D
crdo16v 0 Posted January 17, 2006 Most corrado owners probably by now have 2 keys-1 ignition & 1 for the driver's door, bit late now but at least you won't be in a hurry to fix it again will you? May be easiest just to buy a new handle from VW. I'm sure there will have been similar posts in the past re. this you may want to check before getting new handle. PS- hope the Mrs doesn't catch you first :pale:
andy 0 Posted January 18, 2006 There are microswitches in the handle, you can hear them making and breaking contact when you operate the key to either end of its travel. They either work or they don't if you know what I mean. If the handle is plugged into the loom ok then as you say you have a fooked handle.
easygeezer 0 Posted January 18, 2006 looks like I have broken the plastic rod that controls the microswitch that the lock touches when it rotates DOH
