Heater matrix removal & refitting - Help!!!

hi,

 

Just wanted to know if it is possible to remove the heater matrix without removing the whole dash. I have heard stories that it is possible but want to know if it is true as it will save me a lot of stress and headache. If anyone knows how to do this your help would be much appreciated.
