G60 nearside brake duct..

Recommended Posts

My '91 G60 has the brake duct openings in both front plastic wheel arches. A duct on the drivers side takes air from the bumper to that sides wheel arch.

Should there be a duct for the front near side as well?

... I'm missing mine :-(

All early pre 1992 model year Corrados were fitted with brake cooling ducts to both nearside and offside front. Your car being a 1991 car should have cooling ducts therefore on both sides. The cooling ducts were deleted from the specification on post 1992 model year Corrados due to concerns over damage to the ABS brake system, which was added to all 92 model year production.

John, Thanks for the reply.

That would explain why the later G60s didn't keep the ducts. Not sure how beneficial they are but it can't harm. I'll see if I can find the passenger side one.

I have retro fitted a number of late Corrados with brake cooling ducts, and can confirm that any concern VW may have held over this fittment is unfounded. If you experience any difficulty in obtaining one of these let me know and i should be able to offer assistance.

I have a facelifted '92 G60 with ABS and it has no brake ducts in the front arches. Does anyone have a partcode for the panels/ducts, or know a supplier who can provide them?

Thanks! :)

I've got all the parts including the wheel liners with the holes cut if necessary. There are some superficial marks from the angle grinder on them but nothing that will stop them functioning.

The passenger side unit might not fit with the standard intercooler though.

Hi Toad,

Have these been recovered from another Corrado, or were they made by your good self? Reason I ask is because the passenger side duct on my '91 G60 fitted perfectly with the stock IC... Why might yours not fit? Are they not originally from a G60, or are they newly made to fit a 16V or VR6? :?

They are all from a 1990 16v.

I just assumed that the passenger side one wouldn't fit as the intercooler is in the way. but it looks like I was wrong. which is good. :)
