ardandy 0 Posted February 9, 2006 Just bought the usual wiper upgrade form VW (£70), and yes they're far better etc. Only thing I wanted to mention (and I searched to see if anyone had noticed) was that the parts guy, who I'm almost getting to know personally now, said that it's cheaper to get the Mk4 Golf blades rather than the lupo ones. "They're different, but a little cheaper, and fit just as well." were his words. I can vouch that they are brilliant at clearing the screen and fit perfectly. So apparently you can use Mk4 Golf ones as well as the lupo ones! Feel free to lock/move/delete if this is being done before but I have looked. Thought I'd share it anyway!
mr.ots 10 Posted February 9, 2006 Do they look similar to the lupo ones or are they a more conventional design?

Jim 2 Posted February 9, 2006 Yeah - modern MK4 (and obviously MK5) wiper blades are the aero design! I believe all Golfs 2002 onwards have them...? Might be worth getting yourselves down to the breakers yard for cheap arms :)
dinkus 10 Posted February 10, 2006 If you can get part numbers and prices for the 2 blades we need, I'll update the wiki with them :)
ardandy 0 Posted February 10, 2006 Mk4 Wiperblade = VW1J2955425B Cost = £10.48 inc VAT
ardandy 0 Posted February 10, 2006 Oh, and he did say you need 2 of those, apparently one is longer than the other for the golf. Thats the shorter of the two.
s.g 0 Posted February 10, 2006 what size should the wipers be? i believe halfords sell some
dinkus 10 Posted February 13, 2006 Ah good stuff. I've updated the wiki with that new info :) If you buy the driver's and passenger blades from a Lupo, they're the same length, but the mounting point is in a slightly different position. I would imagine that the Mk4 blade is the same as the driver's side ones from a Lupo, so you can use 2 of them. The fit just might not be exactly the same as it is with the different Lupo arms. Meh :)
Supercharged 2 Posted February 13, 2006 They are the same part numbers as the Lupo ones are they not?
