anyone know about auto boxes on a shran?

Not for me but my mate has a 2l 8v shran and its auto box has started being slow to engage gears when cold and a bit jumpy – its fine when warm.

 

My questions are:

 

Any ideas why its doing this?

 

Where do you fill the auto box with fluid?

Check the fluid level - to do this on most VAG boxes you have to take the speedo drive gear off but there may be a seperate dipstick for this...

Yeah I was thinking fluid level but when I looked I couldn't see a dipstick for it - Only the steering fluid which I don’t think it shears. I told him about the normal filler plug on the front of the box, but I could not see it as there is an under cover.
