vwdubs 0 Posted February 24, 2006 No rollers for mine, Vince moved the lambda probe as it was climbing through the floor! also took all the welded brackets off the exhaust and put them were they should have been with some v-nice welding action. quote] Ok until the above post I have given Miltek the benefit of the doubt. This all happened to me in the last 2 months. Nick is your exhaust system Miltek from Cat-Bypass back? The story started when I noticed that my Cat-Bypass had a small crack in it (the weld on the strengthening plates underneath the Cat-Bypass had pulled away from the stainless steel and left a hole, having looked at this in daylight they really do not weld this up enough. As I had been sold the exhaust system (not including downpipe) by JMR I gave John a call. He was extremly helpful and said that if I drove down on the Friday night he would get another fitted for me. It turned out that John was not back from work so Frank did it for me, they spent a lot of time so credit here. Anyway, after driving it Exeter the following day I noticed a horrible knocking noise but not having a ramp it was hard to see where from. 2 weeks later the car started to run badly so I had a number of things to check inc Lambda. When I got the car up on a ramp at a friends of dads garage he was shocked to see two things. Firstly The Lambda probe was in totally the wrong place on the Cat-Bypass, it had been knocking into the body underneath and hammered the wiring to shreds, the first Cat-Bypass which developed the crack did not have this problem, even more worrying JMR (Frank) had fitted the exhaust like this. I was then told that the brackets on the exhaust were in the wrong place and although not horrendous it was not good either. I asked John if he could help me get a replacement Cat-Bypass and the only way he could within the time period (one week min) was to send me the Boss and blanking plug to blank off the old Boss and move it, this ended up costing me a lot of time and 30 GBP as well as a Lamda Probe that was 80 GBP. John said I expect the Lamda was ***** anyway as its been on the car a fair few miles which it probably was but thats not the point. This is my own experience so I am not saying that all products of Miltek are going to be the same nor am I slating anyone, I am just stating the facts. vwdubs 0 Posted February 24, 2006 I should add that the company that helped me move the Lambda was the same company that Manufactures G-Werks exhausts sytems and they did a top job so thanks Darren.
Kevin Bacon 5 Posted February 24, 2006 You're not alone....a fair few of us have had cause to complain about Milltek products, myself included. Generally they are good exhausts, look at MK4 or Audi Millteks and they are worlds apart quality wise to the Corrado VR6 ones, which are cr@p to put it bluntly. Patchy build quality and the hanger locations are completely wrong. I will say that the Milltek sport cats are great though. Good flow and brilliant build quality and the lambda socket is in the right place too :-) I won't ever be using a Milltek exhaust system again though. NickVR6 0 Posted February 26, 2006 well i have done my best to keep quiet about it tbh. Firstly i will say John (JMR) helped me out of a tight spot when he should have been sunday roasting it with the kids and didnt want anything for it (rear axel bushes), and the delivery time on the milteck was very 1 day. However, yes, my milteck including cat bypass has been on and off the car 6 times now in total. The large t peice hanger was at least 3 inches out where it was welded, regarless of how much you cut of the strraight mid pipe. Ive seen an S6 system which looked awsome and fitted spot on, not so the raddo system. Im very disappointed and will go Magnex next time, purely for fitment ease, but i dont have the money to change it right now, and its still not 100%. The reason i havnt said anything is because i should have gone back to John, as in my experience he would have sorted it for me. However i didnt, i left it for months before trying to do it myself so though it unfair to go back after that amount of time and chopping!
