VR6 Tricky Starts

Recommended Posts

Hi Guys,

New to VR6 ownership. Upgraded from a Scirocco to a MkII GTI to my dream car...

The tickover on startup is c. 500 and then the revs move up once it's warmed up to around 600 and it's fine.

Took it to a garage and they checked all the sensors, etc. Cleaned the ISV. Still no luck. Apparently all sensors are fine. Time for a new ISV? If sensors aren't OK would this cause it to run rich and give me these issues? Someone suggested replacing the sensors in the radiator and engine block...

Any tips appreciated - I'm a mechanical muppet, but at least I can point an honest mechanic in the right direction with your help.

Cheers,

Mark

Then the sensors aren't fine are they? Either that or the ECU is not working right. It seems that the intake air temp sensor is fubar.

There are several temperature sensors on the VR6.. One is on the inlet manifold, iirc.
