My corrado (20v turbo) passed the emmisions test on the mot to day, the car is made after the law came in about cats, but it has not got a cat, but still passed

 

Any ideas?

what year of registration does it come under?

if its eg JUN 90 registered but with a MAY 99 engine then its the JUN 90's relevant laws and requirements that it'll come under

very strange then :? ............just hopefully it'll go through next years emissions tests too

AFAIK there's no law that says cars registered post-'92 HAVE TO HAVE a cat.

Simply the emissions limits are so stringent that it's unlikely that a car without a cat will pass.

 

BTW - I think the engine is tested based on the age of the engine, as best as can be determined. The rest of the car would be tested based on it's registration date.
