VIN No?

Hi everyone,

 

Just a quick one for you all, my log book needs updating with a new vin no, as the engine was recently replaced. Problem is .....where do i find the VIN?

 

Is it attached to anything in particular?

vin number is the chassis number engine number is a different thing only the engine number you need to change it will be stamped on the block somewhere where it can be seen but it may need cleaning the read it

Dies this mean then that because the engine was replaced for a like-for-like, that I possilby don't need to update my log book?

log book has both vin (chassis) numbers and engine numbers so you should change the number but i bet their are loads of cars out there where the engine number doesn't match the log book and no one even notices only the vin Chassis is noted in the mot i think

The only problem is that if i ever sell, I'll do it here first and no-doubt something like that will not be missed so I would ideally like to have everything cosher!

Then put the new engine number in the logbook then!
