94D16V 0 Posted September 12, 2003 Wife left her 94 16v in for some servicing while she's gone for a few days, and your man mentioned something about a sealed hydraulic unit that has something to do with tappets. She was in a hurry so the details didn't penetrate, mean anything to you Corradistas?
Kevin Bacon 5 Posted September 12, 2003 The tappets themselves are Hydraulic and sealed so I guess that's what your man was referring to? Kev
94D16V 0 Posted September 12, 2003 From what she said, it sounded like he was suggesting the fluid in the "unit" needed changing, at which point my ignorance manifested itself. BTW, should have posted this in the Service forum, if a mod wants to do his stuff.....
Kevin Bacon 5 Posted September 12, 2003 'Sealed' would assume you cannot get inside the "unit" to change fluid though. Dunno what he's talking about. Ah....unless he means the oil pressure relief valve or something? Probably best to ring your mechanic and clarify what he was talking about. 94D16V 0 Posted September 12, 2003 Thanks Kev, he's supposed to contact me before doing anything expensive, but it sounded so odd I thought I'd better be fore-armed ;-)
Kevin Bacon 5 Posted September 12, 2003 There's not an awful lot on the 16V [engine] that's really expensive to be honest, so you should be OK! Kev
