Front Crankshaft Gasket...What Would Make It Go Bad??

So I have an oil leak that a grease monkey Identified as the front main gasket (Front Crankshaft Gasket)...so I am replacing that and the oil pan gasket, But What Would Make It Go Bad In The First Place??? I would like to know so that I can prevent it from happening again any time soon. Any Help would be appreciated.

I've noooo idea about the G60, but on my VR I got a notice saying the crankshaft oil seal was leaking and it was just a bit of seepage from the sump gasket just next to it - making it appear to be the crank oil seal.
