I'm fairly confident the smoking would stop or drastically reduce if you switched to the old Silky ;-) There was a brand new 2.9 block on the gay recently apparently, which didn't go for a huge sum. I think if mine ever goes, I'll hunt down a brand new 2.8 block as it's a much better engine! Then get it fully balanced.
