Quick G60 coil wiring query

could somebody confirm 110% that im right with the following on a 92 g60...

 

Green wire on coil=earth?

 

and

 

Black wire on coil=ignition live?

 

just need to know for definate before i try something,cheers.

Yes.

 

Green wire on coil=earth?

 

Signal to ECU actually (pin 25 on the ECU).

cheers tempest.ahhh sh!t...so its just earthed through the body then,unless the signal to the ecu is an earth?

 

i have something to wire up that has three wires:

coil ignition live.

coil negative.

and an earth.

Nope, as that's the ECU's means of controlling the coil, as the G60 no longer has a seperate ignition module (like K-Jets, for example).

 

It might help to post what you're trying to do, and we might be able to find alternative ways.

does the rev counter not take a feed from the coil somehow too?

On the 1990-model (like mine) yes. On the 1992 model, no, as the tachometer gets its signal from a separate controller inside the instrument cluster / MFA.

does the coil (green wire side) have the marking -1 or - ?
