big_chris1981 0 Posted May 28, 2006 been to look at a C tonight and the heater direction contol only moves to the dash or face vent positions....... have had a read through after a search..... is this fixable, or is a new unit/passat unit the best option? MikeVR6 0 Posted May 29, 2006 Hard to tell without taking the panel out and checking the back of it. Sometimes it's just a matter of replacing the bowden cables. Usually though, the plastic clips that hold the cables in place have shattered and a replacement panel is required. Share this post Link to post Share on other sites

MikeVR6 0 Posted May 29, 2006 Prise off the cover with all the markings on it. There's four star headed screws behind it. Remove them and carefully wiggle the enter unit out of the dash. It's a little awkward and not helped by the fact the cables are attached to the back of the panel. Once you can see the back of the panel, have a look at the cables and make sure none of them are floating around without the little metal clips holding them to the back of the panel.
