VR6 0 Posted June 10, 2006 ['H3R4POR]smooth front bumper, colour code read plate recess, remove bump strips, colour code mirrors, remove badgers and smooth, colour code handles thats on my list. do you often have a problem with badgers climbing into you car where you live? be carefull when you remove them, they can be quite nasty. I'm more concerned about his intentions to shave/smooth these badgers ... :? ardandy 0 Posted June 10, 2006 I was quoted £1500 for a full respray from the same guy. He wanted an extra £850 just to paint your A pillers and roof! Not sure about your figures... The full respray would be a windows out type of job etc. Thats where the extra comes in.

selbekk 0 Posted June 10, 2006 Re: the roof strips. Has anyone ever body coloured them? Mine are colour coded, and they look good, tbh. You can't have any racks on them though. I quite like the smoothed roof look, just check out A20LEE's vr. If my car was going to the body shop, I'd: - smooth the rear bumper - remove front number plate recess - colour code rear number plate recess, or remove, weld in plate in place, and relocate recess to rear bumper - remove rub strips - colour code door handles (passat ones look good) - colour code mirrors - remove / replace side indicators with new audi items. - smooth the rough part of the sills. - remove radio antenna hole (but then again, I never use the radio) Good luck with your respray, sounds like a good offer. See examples of their work first though.
ardandy 0 Posted June 10, 2006 Got a pic of your painted roof strips?
selbekk 0 Posted June 10, 2006 no, sorry I don't. I'll take some pictures of it as soon as I get a hold of a camera. The paint hasn't cracked up or anything, though, and the finish is very good, even after 4 years.
mtc R32 0 Posted June 10, 2006 I'm starting to have second thoughts about de seeming the rear and getting rid of the badges!!!! :? :? I've been ploughing through the cars on members gallery... I'm just a little concerned that after i've gone too far there'll be no going back to OEM... which would p*ss me off eventually... dilemas
W3RKD 0 Posted June 10, 2006 If the painters not a friend of yours and has only quoted 700 for all that work i would honestly find another painter for that kind of money either the materials will be very cheap or he isnt planning on spending much time on your car. We see so many crs that have had cheap resprays and it really devalues them in my opinion do it once and do it properly.
