OIL temp High ???

Recommended Posts

My Vr Gets hot in this weather, The combined effects of 6 explosions of fuel and a large engine squeezed into a small engine bay seems to mean they get warm.

I gave her some stick the other day and cracked 130, but it soon backed down to 118 / 120 which is normal heat for me when giving it a bit of wiggins.

I regularly get 108 - 112 at 80 on the motorway and 106 in town.

I was giving the old G60 a good run and saw 132 oil.

Seems to be running ok.

Fok me mine didn’t even reach that temp when my rad cracked ! was only driving it for 5-10 mins when it happened tho.

Does anyone have the part no of the lower temp switch? where does it go on the fan/head/cooler?

pretty sure it prob caused cylinder head to crack somewhere as it was never the same afterwards whatever was tried.

Hy guys,

Also noticed same oil temperature problems yesterday. While driving in city conditions oil temperature stays between 100-105. But when i go on hihgway (speed 80-110 mph) oil temp reaches even 130... (water temp. stays normal)

So is this normal??? Or one day it can cause engine crack :?

Probably i have to install oil cooler, because such temperatures are making me worry...

Yeah 130+ is borderline damage, Id imagine 160 is game over.

130 is not borderline damage. The VW handbook says that if the heat gets to 140 then stop and let it cool down. so If VW say so then I would wage a guess they have tested it properly.
