Removing front brake discs

Recommended Posts

Had te front LHS bearings replaced about 1000 miles ago but i'm getting a rumbling noise from the front left again. Just thinking of removing the disc and slapping loads of grease on the bearing and seeing if that solves it. Whats the best way to remove the discs? After opening the 2 (17mm) bolts on the brake calipers and removing that little seating screw can you then remove the disc or does that big 30mm nut also have to be removed?

Nah, you don't have to remove the hub nut to take the disc off. Taking the stuff off you described is enough.

Thanks for that xbones, I dont have a torque wrench yet and I was hoping i could get round it. Presumably the hub nut only comes off for changing the bearing?

Yeah, bearing, hub, driveshaft etc

You don't need a torque wrench for it really (we didn't have one that has a hight enough scale) - we just did it up to the FT setting with a metre long bar.
