Elec Window and CL prob

Recommended Posts

my mate has a long term loan of my C at the moment and he's quite handy with the tools ect but this has got him stumped

he went to my C today and lowered the pass.side window,he then tried to raise it later on and nothing happened,he then tried lowering the driver side one and nothing is happening,he's checked all the fuses and he's changed the control module with another good one and still nothing,he then tried the total closure and its not even locking or making an attempt to central lock :? ..........tho it does total close the sunroof as per normal

anyone got a clue as to what this could possibly be a sign of???

TIA

After the fuse check, make sure the wiring looms are ok that run from the door to the car. There is a small bit of foam, if missing the wires cut into the bodywork whenever you open or close the door. Then they earth out and the fuse blows when you use the window.

Well thats what happened to me.

Hope this helps

Gotta be that fuse really as its taking out the windows and central locking? I'd try the small fuse next to the large one on its own at the top first.

But if the window went down but not up again, doesn't that suggest that something else is blowing the fuse? Such as a short from an exposed wire as BeavisJem says above?

update for you re this problem

turned out it was the passenger side handle connection to the CL had been trapped by the window going down and was earthing against the door, all happened after my mate fixed the door latch a few weeks back and routed the connection ever so slightly different to what it was before, took a fair time to work out it was that tho as it was blowing fuse after fuse................all appears sorted now :D

thanks for everyones input/help/pointers
