16v (1800) oil pressure light

Recommended Posts

Hi

My girlfriends valver has developed a habit of the oil pressure light flashing every so often, only happened a couple of times.

The engine is quite young at 78,000 miles so shouldn't have much wear so could this be down to a sender problem?

Do I just need to replace it? What does it look like?

Thanks in advance

Adam

Could be a number of things tbh... oil pump, sensor, low oil level?

I'd start with the 2 sensors as they're pennies...

Is there a specific time it happens i.e. on roundabouts?

Thanks for the quick reply!

Only seems to happen when the cars been on a decent run, the oil level is fine....uses a bit, not a lot though.

Where are the sensors located?

Thanks

Adam

Here you go... note that mine has an aditional sender for my gauges - its the larger bit on top of the housing - you should have 2 sensors like the one behind it. One is high pressure and the other is low pressure...

Hope that helps :D

Hopefully it will, think i've actually got a couple of those knocking about from when I had my Mk2. I'll try those and let you know how I get on.

Thanks

Adam
