herisites 0 Posted August 16, 2006 Hi, i am looking at corrado vr6's at the mo to buy. One that i am interested in is in mint condition and everything works ok on it. The only problem that the guy has told me is that the fuel gauge is slightly inaccurate and is easily fixed. Is this a common fault with the vr? Is it easy to fix as he states? Cheers, Rob. iow_corrado_g60 0 Posted August 16, 2006 i cant see how the fuel gauge would go wrong thou chap as the sensor will be in the tank! maybe he means the computer that tells you the m.p.g etc but i wouldnt of thought that would be easy fix
Dub_nut_g60 0 Posted August 16, 2006 My Fuel gauge can be a bit tempremental, once it cut out when it was only just in the red, others the needle has been off the scale and still driving ok. mine can read 1/4 tank difference when i accelerate hard to when i brake hard, same applies for hills due to fuel movement Could just be 'innaccuarte' due to this sort of thing. Kevin Bacon 5 Posted August 16, 2006 Yeah, unless he means the MFA mpg computer, I can't see how the owner would know about adjusting the fuel guage unless he is a hardcore guru of all gurus :-) He is right though, you can adjust the float sender's stop if you find you're running out a little earlier than the guage suggests. Sometimes when you fit a new pump, you have to readjust the stop if there's a slight discrepencie in pump housing height. It's a simple screw you can turn, doesn't take long. It'll mean getting your hands immersed in petrol though :-)
herisites 0 Posted August 16, 2006 Ok thankd for your help guys, i will ask the guy exactly what he means and get back to you. Rob
herisites 0 Posted August 16, 2006 Hi, i asked the guy what he meant and he said the MFA is fine and that its the level sensor that sits in the fuel tank and apparently its easy to access through the boot and just needs changing. Can anyone varify this? If its not a hard job and wont cost much then i dont mind doing it and i will just knock the cost off his asking price and do it myself but if its a hard job then i wont bother. Thanks. Rob. Dub_nut_g60 0 Posted August 16, 2006 sounds exactly like what kev was on about!
Kevin Bacon 5 Posted August 16, 2006 Yep, tis easy. You need to find out which way the adjustment is required. Either the tank won't show full, despite hitting the click stop at the pump, or the car runs out when the guage is still above red. You adjust the stop on the sender mechanism accordingly.
