mrbeige 0 Posted September 25, 2007 Yeah i suppose that does make sense really. I might have to change to some proper metal/silicon piping if that is the case. I'm by no means an expert, but I'd have to agree it would bve better not to use anything overly flexible or possibly porous at any point. I had issues with a leak in my inlet pipework on my valver and that made it run like a bag of spanners at idle, but was fine when giving it beans. I know its a different scenario, but I think the principle is the same.

Think im going to have to have a move around with it, im not keen on where the cone is anyway, there's no room for it anywhere and its too low down for my liking. I will order some more pipework and try to mount it properly. I still need to get it scanned with VAG-COM though ideally just to make sure its not something like the lambda. Jim Bowen 1 Posted October 2, 2007 sorry i know feck all about these things, but does the maf sit before the supercharger so to speak?
herisites 0 Posted October 2, 2007 sorry i know feck all about these things, but does the maf sit before the supercharger so to speak? Yes mate the MAF is upstream of the charger so the order is: Cone Filter > MAF > Charger > TB It has some flexible air ducting between the MAF and charger so the MAF isn't too close to feel too much turbulence from the charger. herisites 0 Posted October 3, 2007 anytime your ready rob, no rush like!!! COME ON SON SORT IT OUT!!! Alright alright keep your hair on! Took a few pics after rolling it out the garage and then a few at my mates garage but will only post a couple. The wheels are BBS RXII's from the mk3 golf anniversary so they are the 7x16 version not the 6.5x16's on the mk4. They were originally Andy's (mk3 yeti) wheels but now he has some wheel porn on his car so he gave these up to me complete with as good as new tyres. They aren't as in ya face as the Brocks but thats the whole point, although i loved the look of the Brocks they were a rather uncomfortable wheel to drive on plus they wouldnt allow for bigger brakes, i have the 288's on now but will be going 312's very soon and these RX2's allow for 312's with a tad of caliper shaving and they will be more comfortable as well as drive properly, plus i think they look wicked on my car and really go with the height and colour. I drove the car earlier with them on and they are spot on, the car feels more stable and planted than on the speedies but at the same time its not steering it self and crashing like mad over bumps like the brocks did. My next plans for the car over the next few ... well months i suppose as i am a stooodent now and cant afford much (machine polish anyone???), is 312 brake upgrade (already have the calipers from the 288's so half way there ish). Find out why its running like a bag of poo, i have suspicions now on a dodgy temperature sensor which could be readin the car is hot when its cold meaning the ecu wont provide much fuel on idle hence why it struggles to idle  but also need to get it scanned with VAG-COM as it could still be lambda or MAF related. I also plan on getting a metal spacer head gasket to lower the compression as well as ARP head and rod bolts and then maybe go for more power, about 12 psi maybe :D oh and a 25mm rear ARB to improve the handling! junkie 0 Posted October 3, 2007 I thought fuel was a good coolant so when its reading warm it will give more fuel to cool it down, so it might be over fueling and struggling to idle.

Well that sounds even more logical really as it does smell like its running rich. I am going to check the sensor tomorrow when i get a chance so will see what i find. junkie 0 Posted October 3, 2007 Now on mine been on Haltech management and no ISV anymore, the cold start is crap, it struggles to idle when cold ticking over around 400-500rpm till it gets warm and smells of fuel, so my point is its struggling to idle due to the fuel even though its a cold engine and not warm like in your case if you see what i mean. mrbeige 0 Posted October 4, 2007 Rob, personally I prefer the look of the Brocks, but as you say 9's aren't practical for the amount of power you're running/will be running (I'm only going to be using my 9's for shows, once mine is back on the road). Don't get me wrong though dude, I like the RXII's, they do look sweet 8)
Goldie 2 Posted October 4, 2007 I think the new wheels look spot on Rob, much more in keeping with the car and give a nice OE look which you know im a fan of....
Jim Bowen 1 Posted October 4, 2007 they look good rob, a bit more classy and grown up than the other ones you had, although they did look nice. not sure about the red caliper tho, doesn't seem right to me
Jim Bowen 1 Posted October 4, 2007 just playing with photoshop, i'm not too great, not sure it looks better like this tbh

herisites 0 Posted October 4, 2007 just playing with photoshop, i'm not too great, not sure it looks better like this tbh I have thought about going darker with them, especially as they are 2 piece split rims so i could have polished lips and a darker center, but im not keen as have done numerous pshops myself and i think that the bright wheels suit the colour of the car better. Stan 24v 0 Posted October 4, 2007 Rob you have one of my favourite cars mate, however Im not really digging those wheels. I reckon youre right about bright wheels for your car, but I think you need some OE looking 5 spokes to set it off 8) Still a stunning C though :thumbleft:
A1 VR6 0 Posted October 4, 2007 Looking good Rob. Can't go wrong with BBS but then I admit I am biased. Silver looks great, don't think the grey/black does. I bet you're very pleased with the ride quality now too :)

Yeah i originally thought about some chunkier wheels as i think they suit the C best and i liked the look of it on the speedies but needed bigger. In an ideal world i would like the 7 spoke Audi TT wheels which are 17" but i would want them in 16's as the 17's weigh a ton and would ruin the ride/handling. I was considering the 16" 5 spoke TT speedlines which Karl now has as his winter wheels but these RX2's came up which i have wanted for a while so couldnt resist! I bet you're very pleased with the ride quality now too :) Yep the ride is slightly better than the brocks  mind you i have been on the speedies for a while and these are a teeny tiny bit more uncomfortable than them but a good comprimise as they certainly feel more stable and grippier than the speedies. KADVR6 0 Posted October 4, 2007 i like them rob, the only thing i would do (in the future) would be colour code the centres. but apart from that they are functional for fitting bigger brakes, and they are miles lighter then the Brocks. karl
