_leon_ 0 Posted September 24, 2006 Has anyone got pics of their autometer gauges they mind sharing? particular the SPORT COMP and Z-SERIES gauges pls. thinking of fitting a boost gauge with either an oil pressure or air fuel ratio gauge - which would be most useful for a G60? not quite sure about the mechanical and electrical gauge differences - anyone know? anyone had an issues with fittings etc? thanks
Blue_Joe 0 Posted September 24, 2006 I've got Autometer Cobalts on mine but they are mega bucks in the UK - About £100-£150 each!!! Will post pics later!
PhatVR6 0 Posted September 24, 2006 a mechanical oil pressure gauge would require an oil line to be ran into the car to the gauge, not a good idea. whereas an electrical one would have a pressure (or temp) sender fitted ont he engine, which would be wired back tot he guage, makes much more sense. I've got 3 carbon faced ones in mine. Oil pressure (the most important one), voltmeter, and an Air/Fuel ratio gauge (fitted with the idea of going turbo at some point). I also have a huge sport comp rev counter with shift light, which I never got round to fitting.
JMC 0 Posted September 25, 2006 I've got an Autometer boost gauge, mounted up on top of the dash, Leon. Should be a picture of it in my members gallery thread. Wouldn't bother with an electrical boost gauge - better (and a lot easier) to stick with the manual ones, as you can take a feed of the vac/boost line going to the back of the MFA. _leon_ 0 Posted September 25, 2006 thanks folks - have the cubby hole dial holder so only can take 2 - 3 would have been good though. planning on getting a boost gauge (yes mechanical), electrical oil pressure gauge. have read the narrow band A/F ratio gauges aren't helpful. any views on this? JMC 0 Posted September 25, 2006 have read the narrow band A/F ratio gauges aren't helpful. any views on this? If you want a true reading on your a/f ratio, a narrow band isn't going to be much use. The one thing mine did tell me was when my lambda stopped working though, so even though it's not particularly useful across the range, it has paid fo itself :D Have a search for the wideband info on here, as that would be the way to go for the most accurate results. _leon_ 0 Posted September 25, 2006 cheers - the wideband is a little pricey for me though... had a new labda fitted within a year so should be ok. think the most sensible one would be the oil pressure then...
