veedub 0 Posted October 20, 2006  -- What is it with you and your unanswered questions ? Sorry mate, but I have no idea :( No one likes me... :( Or perhaps its because I dont ask the usual questions... "how do you fit porsche rims on a 4 stud hub" springs to mind!!
veedub 0 Posted October 20, 2006 57.1mm diameter. I searched for it and got a couple of results saying that. Why thankyou kind sir, how about the length of the spigot? TFI Friday!
Toad 0 Posted October 20, 2006 Haven't got a clue. You require a ring for a new set of wheels do you? or trying to work out if a a wheel will fit? I think the i/d of the centre hole in the wheel runs right through, so you can undo the hub nut.
veedub 0 Posted October 20, 2006 Na im looking at fitting spacers to push the standard estorils out a little further, just wondering how far I can go without pushing the wheel off the spigot. because I really dont want wheel wobble!
Toad 0 Posted October 20, 2006 aaah, nice thinking. How far would you like to go? Think your best bet is to measure them. You having custom spacers made up? If you are going really wide, you could buy some rings o/d 57.1mm, i/d smaller perhaps ~ 45mm, and have the end machined down to fit in the hole in the spacer, then have them welded in place. but it'd be a lot of hassle. And going that wide would provide more nasty feedback through the steering, and more stress on the wheel bearings.
veedub 0 Posted October 20, 2006 Id like to see them sit flush with the wheel arch so id guess a 15-20mm spacer would do, Do you reckon that would destroy the handling? Its probably best I fit the new suspension this weekend and measure the gap between the tyre and wheel arch, I know where I stand then! I just really wanted to know what the widest spacer I could fit which would still leave a sensible amount of spigot exposed in order to centre the wheel on. Toad 0 Posted October 20, 2006 Dunno really, I've not done it, but I'd heard things about it, I suppose moving the tyre 20mm out when it's 200mm wide should do too much to it. You dropping her down a bit then? When she's lowered you'll get a pretty good idea of how far you can go. Might be different for front and back wheels. veedub 0 Posted October 20, 2006 This one is only going down 40mm, my last one was dropped 60mm on the original 15" estorils - twas a nightmare on the crappy cornish roads, the sump and cat looked like a monkey had been at it with a lump hammer!! Time will tell!!
Toad 0 Posted October 20, 2006 Know what you mean. I'm not lowering mine at all, I just couldn't drive it anywhere round home if i did. I beat the front spoiler and backbox around enough as it is. good luck with putting the suspension on!! Nice new Avatar BTW!!!!
