ignition switch replacement

Hi, I know there have been a few other threads on this but I am having a bloody nightmare getting the little screw out that holds the switch in place. Anyone have any tips?

It's actually not held in that tightly (well.. mine wasnt anyway)

You'll need a really thin screwdriver, like those precision sets you see in homebase etc

OK then I will have another go at it later in the week. Is it a phillips screwdriver? Did you bend the screwdriver at all?

When I changed mine a couple of months ago, i didn't need to bend the screwdriver.

Try and look for a very thin star scredriver approx 5", have a torch of some kind wiht you, as it will make takign the screw out a lot easier.

I managed to do it wihtout unplugging any wire connectors.

Remember... thin screw driver, not a the chunky ones

yeah its a real nasty job, need a really thin phillips screwdriver, maybe a cheap one from christmas crackers might work... ??

Just had a quick look through the wiki article and realised it says to take the seat out, did any of you bother doing this?

I didnt have to lie on the floor either,

shine a torch down the way and poke screwdriver from the bottom align it as you can see with torches light And adjust steering column so its easier.

I did put a wee kink in the screwdriver just to make it quicker.

Afair its a flat head?

I have an amazing screwdriver I spent hours bending, and it works a treat.

Now I've read this thread, wish I had stayed in bed that day, never mind done now and all working again.:-)
