golfg60 0 Posted November 8, 2006 Mange tout people! I am looking at buying Sat Nav but know absolutely nothing about it. Do i have to subscribe to anything when i buy one? I am looking at a Tom Tom but only want a one off payment, no monthly charges. Does anybody have any recommendations at all? Cheers Tom
Blue_Joe 0 Posted November 8, 2006 If you buy Tomtom it is a one off charge You can have the option of additional charges some one off and some yearly if you want extras such as traffic updates or Speed Camera locations but thats it. Tomtom is about the best one available that isnt built into a car!

slats 0 Posted November 8, 2006 The Garmin Nuvi 310D from halfrauds is good too. Free FM traffic updates for life but is only trafficmaster info so its not the best service (blue cameras on side of road give the info so ok on main roads but nothing on roads without the cameras) Still charge for speed cameras but go to http://www.pocketgpsworld.com and its about £19 for the year

biggrim 0 Posted November 8, 2006 Just got the TOM TOM 1 for my fiance. UK maps only! £200 from halfords. It's cheaper on the halfords website by a few quid. Tis a nice compact piece of kit.

Peakz 0 Posted November 9, 2006 Mate bought a TomTom 910, not cheap at £350-ish from Dixons but it has a full Euro map on it's hard drive plus Bluetooth and it plays MP3's. TomTom's website has a comparison chart so you can choose what's best.
mtc R32 0 Posted November 9, 2006 TomTom all the way..... I've just updated to the TomTom 910 and have my TomTom 700 forsale in the forsale section... Is still one of the best TomTom's you can buy... http://the-corrado.net/.archive/forum/viewtopic.php?t=49151&highlight
Storm_VR6 0 Posted November 10, 2006 I've been using my Tom Tom go700 for over a year now and it's fantastic. The phase2 Tom Tom 1 is an excellent buy. The best thing about it is the slim line design and it also has a better GPRS receiver then the older Tom Tom Go series. Have a look on Curry's website, think they do them for cheaper then £189.
