ilovemycar 0 Posted November 16, 2006 .. to counteract the ones that piss you off. I'm going to stick with cars I've actually owned and loved, not just wish list cars, that's just silly. First car - Mini, the old one obviously. Went everywhere in that little thing, the silencer used to fall off, it choked up going through puddles, and eventually rusted away, but I loved it and would have another one in a shot, the Cooper this time. Impulse car - Opel Monza. Massive, thirsty as Oliver Reed in rehab, everyone got out of your way because it was slightly scary looking in a "Capri on steroids" kind of way. Don't know if I'd have another one but I'm glad I had that one.
vr6storm 0 Posted November 16, 2006 Opel Monza's now yer talking..............I remember a year after passing my test there being a W-plate 3.0E Monza for sale at a back-street garage,oh how I wanted it,even with the £900 TPF&T premium...........all that rusty brown crushed velour seats..........luckily I wised up anyway Cars I've loved and regretted selling...........there's really on been 1.........my UR-quattro never bought one on impulse yet tho
DiTch 0 Posted November 16, 2006 first car i owned was a 2 door mk3 cortina , exsaust would vent into the car and the gear stick once came off in my hand going around an island{ much to the amusment of the girl sat next to me} .......... i liked it ! 4stud 0 Posted November 16, 2006 My hotrodded Anglia, I bought it when i was 16 as just a rolling shell. It's not that comfortable to drive but the looks you get on the motor way and the people leaning out their window with the camera phones make up for that (a lot of people have pics of the car with me making daft faces). Other than that the Austin Metro i had when i was 17 was fun. Apart from me having to change the clutch cable every week.
oxfordpaul 0 Posted November 16, 2006 My Mk1 Scirocco GLi, metallic red with full BBS body kit and wheels. Went like stink and looked the dogs. This was in 1990 when I was 18 and I wish I still had it - I haven't seen a MK1 for years with the injection engine (except Storms)
Tempest 0 Posted November 16, 2006 Easy answer to that question: All my current cars! I haven't seen a MK1 for years with the injection engine Well, next time you're up in Coventry or surrounding areas for a show, let me know, as I can easily change that :-) Tempest

PhatVR6 0 Posted November 16, 2006 I still miss my first VW, my old Mk2 VR6. :-( gone, but not forgotten. Still want to build another one. Probably wouldn't drive around in a car looking like that now, but that was 8 years ago and at the time I thought it was mint! (yes, even the sunstrip....[groan])
pkripper 0 Posted November 16, 2006 Im gonna buy a new car in the spring, one of 3 cars: Toying with an evo1 intergrale like this: http://www.pistonheads.com/sales/106974.htm If I cant drag myself away from German engineering than it will be either an E30 M3 or a UR Quat. Difficult to find good ones for sensible money though. If things go well in the wallet dept it would be a 993 carrera with the glass roof.

Can't argue with the mini, my first car was a 1.0 mini mayfair when I was 17, brilliant fun, towards the end of it's life we stripped literally everything unnecessary off it bar the drivers seat and it really flew round the streets! Easily the most fun I've ever had in a car before the rado :)
Tempest 0 Posted November 17, 2006 Opel manta gte coupe's... Mandatory viewing for you then is the German film "Manta, Manta", which was broadcast on a German satellite channel recently again. Excellent film taking the p*ss out of everything that a Manta (and similarly any serious cartuning freak) driver stands for  Tempest
randomist 0 Posted November 17, 2006 apart from the opel every can mentioned so far i'd love! would love a mk2 mystic blue scirocco storm. thinking about my younger days i always wanted an mk2 escort rs2000 or an escort cossie when i'm in a charver mood! not sure about modern cars though, i'll have to have a think about it? vwdeviant 0 Posted November 17, 2006 The one car I ever regretted selling... The one in my sig.... For those of an age under 50 ;) It's a VW Type3 saloon, or Notchback... Lower than a Datschund's danglies (like 3inch to the front beam!), comfortable (for an aircooled, far more room than a bug inside) and that was quick, like stuck up behind a Boxster @ 110 quick (no Police officers here are there? If there are it was on a Private test track, honestly!). I miss that car, now somewhere in Kent :(
Tempest 0 Posted November 17, 2006 would love a mk2 mystic blue scirocco storm Good choice (I would say that, wouldn't I?), only it wasn't in mystic blue but cosmos blue ;-) Tempest
Guest Posted November 17, 2006 Only ever had one car before my VR, and that was a 1.3 Austin Metro City  killed that with the aid of a roundabout after driving it for 5 years, then went car-less for 2 years, and have had my C for 4 years. I was never gonna buy anything other than a C since I was taken for a spin in a mates brand new VR in 1994, and I got the chance 8 years later :)
Jim 2 Posted November 17, 2006 Have to say, the Corrado is probably the car that I love most that is affordable / within my grasp. Most other stuff I really love is basically going to be forever out of my reach. I'd never had much of an interest in cars but went out in my mates Moonlight Blue VR6 and it just blew me away.. i'd not long learned to drive and had a Peugeot 205 Trio... went out in the Corrado and the speed, the soundtrack, the superb colour.. it all just blew me away and I knew I wanted one. Been smitten ever since!

Andy665 0 Posted November 17, 2006 Can honestly say that I loved my Series 1 Primera e-GT. Might only have had 150 bhp but the car itself was quite light and the thing revved like crazy. It was a company car and it did 100k in 18 months with 100% reliability. Looked ver plain in dark green metallic but it left a surprising number of cars behind in a straight line, it was even better across country, superb chassis on what was basically a medium sized family car. samm_cvr6 0 Posted November 17, 2006 Has to be my old 205 1.9 GTI, Maybe it was just being 19 years old and having that car at the time, full of testosterone and all that, it had piper cam, exhaust system and air filter, it kind of sounded a bit like an Impreza, bit chavvy but very nice all the same. 175bhp per tonne roughly so more than a standard VR. And I drove it like a lunatic, never let me down except for the damn alarm- TOAD AI606. I don't think I first spotted a Corrado til about 95, but I knew I had to have one, but it was back to the future which lead me to it originally, thinking a delorean was a Scirocco! LOL. Then having a MK2 Golf GTI 16V was a different experience, not as much fun as my 205 but just as lovely all the same. If I come in to some money tho I think I will probably get a 993 Turbo, or maybe even a Supercharged VR...
Jim 2 Posted November 17, 2006 so you bought a RED VALVER, mkay .................... ;) j/k mate A Corrado's a Corrado.. I love the VR6 lots and I will have one someday, but just to own a Corrado is enough :) And i've always wanted a red Rado :D
