mbradbrook 0 Posted November 27, 2006 Evening all, My sister is having a bit of a mare with her mk3 Golf GTI. She has had the following quote from the VW dealership to do the following work (the car only went for a service!) Cost of service: £221.93 Replace nearside rear ABS sensor: £208.87 Replace PAS belt: £49 Replace distributor cap & arm: £64.53 Replace rear wheel bearing: £54.70 Resolve excessive movement in front suspension: £252.68 Replace front tyres (currently 2mm): £163.40 Centre & rear exhaust corroded (but not blowing yet): £317.39 Wishbones on front suspension need replacing: £527.78 With VAT this comes to over £2000!! (i.e. the value of the car!) These prices are well over the top so she has asked me to find out if there is a VW specialist near Epsom that anyone could recommend. Any help would be really appreciated! Cheers Matt
Goldie 2 Posted November 27, 2006 Id be tempted to ask Phil K, sure hes from the surrey area. Reckon hed be able to point you in the right direction. Definitely right not to get the work done, get the stamp in the book from VW and take the rest elsewhere...

mbradbrook 0 Posted November 27, 2006 Thanks for the replies. I couldn't believe the price of the ABS sensor either. Rip off merchants. We have found a place called Wheelbase: http://www.wheelbase.uk.com Based in Hersham near Walton-on-Thames. They sound quite promising - has anyone else used them?
