Louie Lungbubble 0 Posted November 28, 2006 Just had THE phonecall from the mot garage my car's in at. Quite a list, and after all that work rebuilding the head after the gasket went I'm feeling like throwing my hand in. Give us a few pointers, please kids. Need to decide what to do. :( Subframe: Gone! (His technical term) To what degree I dunno, but he seemed hesitant to offer his services to weld it. What's the script with this? Can it be replaced, or is that a Biggie? Suspension top mounts & bearings: Both front, and one rear. Idea on price anyone? Emissions: Co2 low, but hydrocarbons "Off the scale". Hoping this is a hangover from the gasket change. Crypton tune to sort?? Off the top of his head, the bloke was shouting ITRO £400- 500. Any thoughts (especially on that subframe) very much appreciated.

coolrado 0 Posted November 28, 2006 if tis just the front subframe you can pick a decent one up from a scrappy for 20 quid and both front and rear top mounts you should be able to get for about 60 quid all in.
Tekara 0 Posted November 28, 2006 New subframe is about £300 from VAG, captive nuts broke loose on mine.

Toad 0 Posted November 28, 2006 Ok, I don't think I'll be offering you a hand then.... it's a bit far to 'pop round' If you can find a decent subframe, there's a little bit of work involved in changing it, I think there was a thread asking about it on here a little while back. Louie Lungbubble 0 Posted November 28, 2006 Yeah a little bit far. Cheers for the thought anyway mate. Think I'll have to give Gibber a shout and see if he knows if that'll fit on mine.

As long as it's not off an automatic, all the 4 cylinder sub frames are the same part number.
Louie Lungbubble 0 Posted November 28, 2006 Cheers David. Just been onto Dubsport. They reckon 3.5 hrs labour to fit. Not as bad as I thought, that.
