gear box conversion

hi been looking at a few vr6s (looking to purchase) and have found a few nice autos which seem better value for mileage and condition etc but DONT want an auto, does any1 do an auto to manual conversion? any ideas of cost or is this just being daft? :roll: cheers

This has come up before and a quick nose through the Search would hopefully have helped you out.

 

Here is a fairly comprehensive guide on how to do it. Only really worth doing if you can find a very cheap base project car as it takes a LOT of time and a fair few parts :(

I went this route, didnt do the work myself and it still cost me less than 1300.00.

Also, I phoned a few breakers from the back of PVW mag who were going to sell me all the parts needed for 700.00.

I brought all i needed from the very helpful members on here!!

I would agree, tidy looking car. Personally, unless the car is mint I wouldnt bother with the hassle.

that was one iv been looking at, the autos have half the mileage on and will never have been as stressed as a manual, i did this conversion on a car a few years back but as it was an escort so was pretty straight forward just wondering if you guys had done it on here as its worth a thought! cheers for your help!
